Art Heals, The Power Of Art Therapy

THE ARTISTIC CIRCLE FOUNDATION PRESENTS: “ART HEALS, THE POWER OF ART THERAPY”
Philadelphia, PA, August 7, 2012 – During the entire month of August, The Artistic Circle Foundation artists will be displaying artwork in a group exhibition at the Da Vinci Art Alliance in the theme of art therapy. The artists include Rick Chapman, Rachel Harnish, Michele Renee Ledoux, David Mel, Denise Nickey, Ernesto Rodriguez, and Heather Crowley.
The purpose of art therapy is essentially one of healing physical, mental, and emotional problems. The nine emerging to mid-career artists are from around the country and are displaying art in the media of digital, mixed, collage, prints, and paintings. Denise Nickey, an artist from Wellsville, PA, expresses how, “Art speaks to your soul! It allows you to be fully present in the moment and feel what is being expressed through the artwork. In the creation of art all things are possible and infinite. Art allows you to open new doorways and explore new worlds. Art reconnects the spirit. That is the ultimate healing.” By having these exhibitions The Artistic Circle Foundation hopes to inspire creativity in the realm of spirituality and bring to light the important message art has to deliver to humanity.
Heather Crowley, an independent artist living in the Seacoast region of New Hampshire, believes that her artwork will be healing to others in many ways. “Each person will have their own associations and interpretation of the pieces I create. My belief is that as a society we’ve become very technologically advanced, but as a result we’ve also become much more disconnected from the Earth and nature to our own detriment,” Crowley said. “I hope my art will serve to remind viewers of the beauty there is all around us which we take for granted much of the time and be an instrument in healing the rift between humans and nature.”
David Mel admits,”I would in some way like to inform any people viewing my art, that I am narcoleptic. That is really my link to the theme that I create my art at all hours of the day & night due to my broken sleep patterns and that many of my pieces are vivid abstractions like many of my dreams. Sometimes I find fragments of those dreams & somehow make a language through the art.”
The opening reception will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 6 to 9 p.m. The event will be located at the Da Vinci Art Alliance, 704 Catherine St., Philadelphia, PA, and is free to the public. Come celebrate the power of art therapy from all nine artists while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres, wine and refreshments.
